Vicious Cycle

Vicious Cycle (Intervention Series #2) by Terri Blackstock: Book Cover

Start Date: Feb 26 2011
End Date: March 1 2011
Pages: 375
Chapters: 64
Stars: 5

This is part 2 of the Intervention series, and I hope that there will be another one.  Could not put this book down, and could not wait to pick it up again when I  had to put it down.  Each chapter leaves you on a cliff hanger.  Each page had a new twist and turn and left you wanting more.  Would highly recommend this book, but read Intervention first.

Fave Lines:  There is one line in this book that I loved: "Babies are gifts from God.  And if babies were the gifts, surely their moms were the wrapping"

I enjoyed this book, although there were some parts that dragged a little, but then it picked up again.  I would recommend this book.  I would not put it at the top of my list, but I think it should be read.  I love the little boy, Sam in the book.  He is so lovable and innocent and just wants to be loved.  I did not like the fact that towards the end he is an adult- I think that could have been left out and kept him as a little boy.

Secrets She Left Behind by Diane Chamberlain: Book Cover The sequel to Before The Storm.  Could not put this book down as well.  I was on the edge of my seat to find out what really happened.  Of course there were twists and turns.  I love the character Andy.  He seems so cute and innocent, ad he tries to be the best he can be.  I give this book five stars.  I love this author.

Before The Storm- Diane Chamberlain

Before The StormThis was an outstanding book from start to finish.  There is a second part to this book called, Secrets She Left Behind.  I was not expecting a sequel to this book, but I am so happy that there is one.

Fifteen-year-old Andy Lockwood is special.
Others notice the way he blurts out anything that comes into his mind, how he cannot foresee consequences, that he's more child than teenager. But his mother sees a boy with a heart as open and wide as the ocean.
Laurel Lockwood lost her son once through neglect. She's spent the rest of her life determined to make up for her mistakes, and she's succeeded in becoming a committed, protective parent—maybe even overprotective. Still, she loosens her grip just enough to let Andy attend a local church social—a decision that terrifies her when the church is consumed by fire. But Andy survives…and remarkably, saves other children from the flames. Laurel watches as Andy basks in the role of unlikely hero and the world finally sees her Andy, the sweet boy she knows as well as her own heart.
But when the suspicion of arson is cast upon Andy, Laurel must ask herself how well she really knows her son…and how far she'll go to keep her promise to protect him forever.

Did Andy start the fire, or didn't he?  This will keep you guessing until the very end.  You will think that you have it figured out, and then another twist comes and will leave you at the edge of your seat.

Book Review

Left Neglected- Lisa Genova

From the author who wrote Still Alice comes another great book, Left Neglected.  Sarah is hardworking at her job, and also at home as a devoted mother and wife.  Always on the go, one phone call changed the lives of many people.  Taking her eyes off the road for a split second to make a call on her cell phone, Sarah is Left Neglected.  Left Neglected is the term meaning that people who have this are unable to comprehend and use anything that concerns the left side of the brain. This is a very tramautic injury to the brain and could have been prevented.  As the days and nights grow longer, Sarah slowly starts to recover.  As she recovers, Sarah re-evaluates what is important to her.  This book is a reminder that life can change in the matter of seconds.  You will find yourself crying, laughing, and rooting for Sarah as she slowly begins her life again.

Book Review

Not without hope- Nick Schulyer

This is by far a five star plus book.  A true story about four NFL players stranded at sea after a fishing boat flipped during a bad storm.  Stranded in ice cold salt water with no food and no water. High waves end up drifting these men further and further away from any type of civilization.  All they have is hope and each other.  This is a story about strength, courage, and survival.  This story will break your heart as you read what they went through.  Nick, the only survivor describes in amazing detail what they were going through.  You can feel how cold the water is and you can feel yourself on the waves.
This goes to show you that you have only one life to live and it can end without warning.

Review-If you lived here, you'd be home by now-LaZebnik

An upbeat fun story about love, regrets, and starting over.  The main character, Rickie is a fun fear-less, does not care what other people think type of person.  Rickie is a single mom, raising her only son Noah while living in her parent's home.  Rickie's mom does not approve of how she lives and dresses and acts but she does not care- she is who she is and if you do not like it then scram. Her main focus is Noah, and giving him the best life possible.  Both are complete outcasts and do not fit in, but that does not stop them from living to the fullest.
New loves, old loves, and finding out what true love really is. This book has got it all.

4 stars.
